THE BOY NEXT DOOR✓ EPISODE 110✓

My head is pounding like crazy. I groan and roll over but I only feel worse. I can barely open my eyes and I feel like I am spinning. Opening my eyes the tiniest bit, I realize that I'm actually in bed and the room is swathed in sunlight. The curtains are drawn and the the azure sky is visible. It's a good day; no clouds whatsoever. Groaning, I sit up in bed and my eyes scan the cabin. It's empty. What the hell? The rest left without me? The sleeping bags are arranged neatly at the corner and the dishes are washed and nicely tucked away. The aroma of coffee hangs about in the room and my taste buds are instantly alert. My head aches and I prop pillows behind me then lie on them. To be honest, I have no idea how I got here last night. The last memory I have is Kain and I kissing like our lives depended on it. Looking at myself, I realize that I'm still in my clothes and I am wearing his jacket. What? I can't remember him wrapping it around me. I just hope I didn't do anything stupid. The door opens and I quickly pull the duvet over me. I relax when Kain enters, holding a bunch of nice wild flowers in one hand. He gives me a small smile while walking in long strides. "Good morning." He asks with his eyes on me. "Hi." I say in a croak. Where the hell is my voice? "How are you feeling?" "Like crap." I answer truthfully. "That's expected. Alcohol is not for everyone Belle. Maybe you should just stick to food and sleeping." He says with a tiny grin before handing me the flowers. My heart flutters then beats like crazy. This has to be the sweetest thing that anyone has ever done for me. No one has ever given me flowers, and I didn't expect this from Kain. This sweet side of him is just too much to handle. If he keeps this up, my heart is going to stop. "Do you like them?" He asks uncertainly when I keep holding them quietly. "I was bored over here and you were asleep so I went for a jog in the woods....." "I love the flowers." I reassure him while taking a sniff. "I'll get you some pills for that headache." He says when I grimace then walks to the bathroom. "Wait. How did I get here?" I ask, and he turns to face me. "I brought you." "Did I pass out or something? I can't remember anything." The edges of his lips lift in a smirk. "Well, you threw up all over me then you chose that nice moment to pass out." "I did?" I ask in horror and he shrugs. "It happens Belle. It's no big deal." "I'm not drinking again." "Easier said than done. I'll get those painkillers." I face palm myself when he turns to go. Why did I even drink at all last night? Oh, I almost forgot; the stupid game of course. Feeling like shit, I crawl out of bed to hunt for a vase. The flowers are just too beautiful to wither yet. I place the water filled vase on the counter then sit on the couch as Kain brings me the drugs. He stands there as I pop the tabs then he takes the glass to the sink in the kitchenette. "Are you hungry?"He asks over his shoulder. "Very." "What do you want to eat?" What? Does he want to prepare breakfast for me? Who the hell is this? "Anything." I reply when he starts to lift an eyebrow. "Ummh I'll take a shower." "Don't take forever. The rest are waiting for us." "Where are they by the way?" "At the river. They were getting impatient and I didn't want to wake you up so I told them to go." "Kain, I can't swim." He raises both eyebrows in surprise. "And you have a swimming pool at home?" "We moved here two weeks ago." "I'll teach you." He says with a grin. "That ought to be fun." The idea of Kain in swimming trunks and me in a swimsuit makes goosebumps rise on my skin. What would it be like, when he steps out of the water with his hair wet, his skin having those water droplets and his trunks sticking to his body. Damn. "You are staring at me and biting your lip. That's not a good combination." He states with amusement while retrieving eggs from the tray. He just caught me staring; again. By now, I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm a creep. "Will you teach me how to swim at the river?" I ask while clearing my throat. He lifts his eyes to scan my body. "No, Belle. The river is too dangerous. I don't want to lose you before you are even mine." Oh well. I turn on my heel and rush to the bathroom. ***** After a very tantalising breakfast of coffee, eggs and fresh strawberries, we leave for the river. I didn't pack a swimsuit so I'm wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Kain keeps his arm around me the entire time and if I say I don't like it, I'll be lying. Right now, I guess it's pretty obvious that I have a mighty crush on him. In fact, I don't think it's just a crush; I guess I'm safe to say that I do like him. The river is wide enough and the water is relatively clear. A few rocks jut out from strategic positions in the water and I cringe when I imagine someone hitting one of those. Everyone is in the water, throwing handfuls of water into each other's faces. We stand on the edge watching them for a moment as they go underwater, competing to see who can hold their breath for long. Gianna comes out first, sputtering uncontrollably while laughing at the same time. She seems to be having so much fun. Jay comes up next and his eyes narrow at us. "So you two decided to use the house while we were away? If you fucked on the bed I'm not sleeping on it tonight. You better have used the couch." He yells at us and I blush furiously. Honestly, what is wrong with Jay? "Look who is finally here." Jade yells when she emerges. "How was it Bella? Are you feeling sore?" Kain just shakes his head and drops his arm which is still around me. "Don't mind them. I'll sit with you. Come." "Wait, aren't you going to swim?" "I don't want to leave you alone. You will be bored." I quickly shake my head. I don't want him missing out because of me. "I'll be fine. Just get into the water already." He looks me over. "Are you sure?" "Of course. Go." Sparing me one more glance, he tugs off his T-shirt and tosses it on the ground. Maaaaan. I quickly look away. There's just something about nice muscular chests that gets my heart in an overdrive. "Be careful. I don't want to deal with an emergency right now." He warns me and I turn to look at him. His jeans are on the ground beside the shirt and he is standing there in all male beauty wearing a pair of swimming trunks. I nod quietly and he half-jogs to the water, diving right in when he gets to the edge. I look at my friends having mad fun for a while before it gets really boring. I'm missing out. I walk to the water's edge and sit down on the grass before lowering my feet into the water. It soaks the lower part of my jeans but I don't mind. The water is cool and soothing. I cackle when Ethan pushes Jay inside unexpectedly and he emerges cursing and coughing, spluttering all over. Cara is keeping close to Kain and I understand that she feels safer around him. He is the only one who seems to understand her predicament and I swear Jade hasn't even looked in her direction since I got here. Gianna swims to the edge then sits beside me, mirroring my actions. She puts her feet in the water and wraps an arm around me. "Kain is so happy." She blurts out of nowhere and I turn to look at her. "Yeah he is." I reply simply. I'm not sure what she implying. "It's because of you, you know?" "Me?" I laugh out nervously. "I don't know what you are talking about." "I guess you do. He has gone through so much ever since his mom started having issues, you know? He takes care of her and now, he has to take care of me. I keep telling him that I'm a grown up but he treats me like a baby." "You are a baby. If I had a little brother, I'd never let him out of my sight." She laughs. "Stop acting like Kain. Any way, my point is; he is happy of late. He is free, he even smiles and laughs like a normal person. Normally, he wouldn't have come to this trip with his Mom at the hospital. He only came because of you." "How do you know that?" "He told me." She replies with a grin. "He told you-" I never get to finish my sentence. One minute, I am talking to Gianna and the next moment, the small rock she is sitting on at the very edge of the river gives way. Her arm is still wrapped around me and naturally, I go in with her. I'm scared stiff and I don't even get time to scream as my face hits the water and Gianna's arm leaves me. I glance at Kain at the last moment of desperation and he is talking to George. In fact, no one seems to realize what is happening. I open my mouth to scream but I'm already sinking. The only thing I manage to do is swallowing a huge gulp of water. Then another one, and another. I can't fight. The harder I do, the deeper I sink. Giving up, I let the dark abyss swallow me. I close my eyes and let myself go. I'm dying.
