I leave the house together with Daniel on Friday morning. He is happy and smiley; I guess because the party was a major success.
When we get to the driveway, Ryan is already at the wheel waiting for me, the engine running. Daniel gives him a tiny wave before turning to walk to his car.
"Daniel, wait." Zac's voice stops both of us in our tracks and we turn to him.
He is walking from his house, car keys in hand, a big ass smile on his face.
"Can I drive Bella to school today? I mean, I live right next door so we can as well save the environment."
Daniel glances at me and I shrug. Zac has been acting all weird and I need a chance to talk to him anyway.
"It's okay as long as she is fine with that." Daniel tells him and I silently follow Zac to his car.
He is an all round gentleman; opening the door for me and ensuring I'm comfortable before closing it behind me. He gets into the driver's seat and spares me a small grin before pulling out of the driveway.
"What's so funny?" I ask him once we hit the road.
"We've never had an alone moment before. You know; just the two us. I've always wanted to take you somewhere and school will be a nice beginning."

Oh well.
"Thanks for driving me." I say for lack of a better sentence and he beams at me.

"It's nothing Bella. You know I'd do anything for you, don't you?"
Heh! I'm not sure what this is leading to.
"Thank you for always being there. Your friendship means everything to me."
He shifts somewhat uncomfortably.
"That's what I wanted us to talk about."
"That's what I wanted us to talk about."
I crease my brow. "What."
"Us being friends; you know. I want to be more than friends Bella. I'm in love with you."
I almost jump out of my seat. That was the last thing I expected him to say.
I give him an almost horrified stare.

"Zac..."
"You don't have to answer that right now. Think it over."
"I don't have to think about it. You are one of my best friends and I care about you so much. Please let's not ruin that."
His fingers tighten on the steering wheel. "We are not ruining anything Bella. I just want to make it better for us. I've been watching Ethan and Kain over the weekend and I can tell that you don't like them. The least I could do is try."
I shake my head.
"I can't...."
"Just think it over. I'll give you the world; anything that I can. Just take time and think about it."

"What exactly do you want?"
"I want us to have something; anything. I don't care as long as we'll be together and Kain won't be messing with you. Ethan as well."
I sigh and lean back on the seat. "Can we just go to school?"
He nods. "Sure. Please have the answer ready before we leave in the evening."

That makes me sit up straight in my seat.
"We're leaving?"
His forehead creases. "Jade was supposed to tell you. I guess she forgot in all her excitement at getting back together with George."

"Where are we going?"
"Call it camping. My parents have this nice cabin in the woods which they've never used. I go there with my friends once in a while on weekends to wind up. We thought we should go this weekend; it's been a crazy last few days. We all need a burst of fresh air."
